A Full Spectrum Supplement—Pure Protein Complete

Posted on May 15th, 2014 | 2 comments

With swimsuit season just around the corner, most people will be reviewing their weight-management goals. These goals probably include eating healthier, exercising more, and using Slique™ products—all in hopes of taking their overall health and fitness to the next level. Are you looking to improve your fitness in time for summer? Let me reacquaint you with one of my favorite Young Living supplements: Pure Protein Complete™!

While it may be common knowledge that protein is the main nutrient for building and sustaining muscle, we sometimes overlook other crucial nutrients required to support muscle tissue. I’d like to talk about two of those important components, both of which are found in Pure Protein Complete.

First of all, let’s talk about amino acids. Protein is comprised of different types of bioactive amino acids that break down and play various roles in the human body. Pure Protein Complete contains 22 grams of our Complete Amino Profile Blend™. That adds up to 18 essential amino acids, including histidine, lysine, and leucine.

  • Histidine is necessary for the growth and repair of numerous types of body tissue. It plays a crucial role in supporting various elements of the nervous system, such as regulating nitrogen levels in the body and influencing calcium absorption.
  • Lysine, known for combating fatigue and impacting muscle growth, is a must-have in any protein supplement.
  • Leucine contributes to the growth and repair of muscular and skeletal tissue and helps regulate sugar levels in the bloodstream.

The second crucial ingredient in Pure Protein Complete is our vegetarian enzyme complex. It supports proper digestion and metabolism with enzymes such as lactase, papain, bromelain, amylase, and lipase, ensuring optimal absorption of needed protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Pure Protein Complete is a delicious and nutritionally comprehensive supplement and is a perfect addition to any balanced diet. What are some of the unique ways you incorporate Pure Protein Complete into your diet?

Product Spotlight: Slique™ Bars

Posted on April 24th, 2014 | 2 comments

Young Living’s Slique™ product line is formulated with unique, natural ingredients and is designed to support individual weight-management goals.* Slique Bars, the newest addition to this line, are a perfect snack option between or before meals to help manage satiety.

So, how do they work? While developing the bars, we focused on three key components: potato skin extract, fiber, and nutrition.

Potato skin extract contains a special protein that increases your body’s release of cholecystokinin (CCK). The body uses CCK to signal to your brain that food has been eaten, promoting feelings of fullness sooner and for longer periods of time, thereby managing hunger. Unlike so-called “fat burners” found on the market today, this all-natural ingredient does not stimulate metabolism, cause jitters, or have other side effects generally associated with commonly used weight-management ingredients.

Fiber found in chicory root inulin is insoluble, meaning it is not digested or absorbed in the digestive tract. This bulk material takes up space, helping you feel full and avoid overeating.

Essential nutrition comes from exotic nuts and berries, including baru nuts, goldenberries, and wolfberries. D. Gary Young also added cacao nibs that are prepared using a unique dehydration process. Our nibs are dried using low heat to preserve more of the cacao’s rich health benefits.

Powered by these key components, Slique Bars can help you feel fuller longer. They are the perfect snack to help you avoid mindless eating between meals and before or after workouts!

Leave me a comment and share how you use these delicious bars during your daily routine.

—Ryan Seely, Associate Product Marketing Manager

*For optimal results, Slique Bars should be taken with 12 ounces of water and should be used as part of a Slique regimen consisting of other Slique products, exercise, and a sensible diet.

Slique Bars: Slimming and Satisfying

Posted on July 18th, 2013 | 180 comments

As Young Living’s Slique™ line evolved, it became increasingly apparent that it needed an important component: a healthful snack full of “good” calories. With this goal in mind, we went to work creating an innovative product that supplied much-needed calories along with other health benefits. The resulting Slique Bars were recently unveiled at our International Grand Convention to rave reviews. Attendees were able to sample the bars, receive trainings, and have their questions about this delicious new product answered.

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the new Slique Bars:

What are the special ingredients in Slique Bars?

Slique Bars contain many nutritious ingredients, including baru nuts, goldenberries, wolfberries, potato skin extract, cacao nibs, and essential oils (vanilla, orange, and cinnamon bark).

What are baru nuts and goldenberries?

Baru nuts are nutrient-dense nuts sourced with great difficulty from remote areas in Brazil. Goldenberries are delicious, tart berries sourced from Amazon regions of South America.

What makes cacao nibs a special ingredient?

The cacao nibs in Slique Bars are created using a proprietary low-heat dehydration process developed by D. Gary Young. This process assures that more of the cacao’s beneficial flavonoids and amino acids are retained.

How do Slique Bars help me lose weight?

Slique Bars use a dual-target approach to help manage satiety. First, Slique Bars’ unique combination of proteins, fats, calories, and high fiber (contains 8 grams of total fat per serving) promote satiation. Second, Slique Bars contain clinical amounts of potato skin extract that may increase the duration of feelings of fullness.

Are Slique Bars gluten free?

Yes, Slique Bars are gluten free!

How many calories are in Slique Bars?

Slique Bars contain 140 calories per 35 gram bar, making them a perfect snack the whole family can enjoy.

The final question I will answer is, “When can I get my hands on this amazing product?” Slique Bars are currently being produced and should be available for order by the end of this month. In the meantime, I would like to offer a box (six bars) to one lucky individual who leaves a comment on this post by July 22!

Chew on this…

Posted on April 16th, 2013 | 168 comments

For thousands of years, different cultures have chewed a variation of gum-like substances. The Greeks chewed mastic tree sap; Mayans used sapodilla tree sap; Native Americans preferred spruce sap; and ancient Middle Eastern travelers used frankincense oleoresin. Although there are many reasons to chew gum, some of the most interesting (at least to me) include to promote oral health and to help control appetite.

Frankincense oleoresin was traditionally chewed by ancient Middle Eastern travelers during long journeys when days were long and food was scarce. These days, you will often see contestants on NBC’s The Biggest Loser chewing gum. In fact, according to the National Institutes of Health, the simple act of chewing distracts your mouth and prevents cravings. The effect that chewing gum has on cravings and hunger management is also the subject of many current studies.

So how does chewing gum improve oral health? As we eat, acids are created in the mouth as food is broken down. Over time these acids have the potential to break down tooth enamel, which can lead to additional oral issues. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), chewing gum triggers the production of saliva that washes away or dilutes these acids. Clinical studies show that after a minimum of 20 minutes of chewing, optimal oral benefits are reached.

Slique™ Gum combines pure, natural frankincense chewing resin, peppermint and spearmint essential oils, and xylitol into a one-of-a-kind chewing experience. The gum base is free of synthetic material and is cold pressed to preserve the benefits that ancient caravan travelers enjoyed. Personally, I like to spice my gum up a little by adding 1–2 drops of Slique Essence prior to chewing. This adds additional flavor and a hint of sweetness. It also adds additional Slique benefits. It should be noted, however, that adding any type of citrus oil to the gum modifies the gum consistency and may alter the chewing experience.

Suggestions for using Slique Gum

  • Chew while cooking to prevent nibbling
  • Use after a meal to improve oral health
  • Keep a pack in your purse or briefcase to help resist high-calorie temptations
  • Chew between meals to control cravings and avoid mindless snacking

Have you tried Slique Gum? Now is your opportunity! We will randomly select 10 people who leave a comment with their thoughts on this all-natural gum to receive a free three pack. Good luck!

Slique Challenge Winners!

Posted on January 29th, 2013 | 38 comments

Young Living recently announced the winners of the second Slique™ Weight-Loss Challenge, which concluded last month. Unlike other weight-management challenges, this challenge started in September and ended in December, spanning the typically glutinous holiday season. While others indulged, participants worked hard, stayed motivated, and achieved success. We are sure you will agree that their experiences are an inspiration to all.

The top male and female (based on percent of weight lost) were surprised by a visit from Young Living staff announcing their victory. Their genuine reactions and contagious excitement conveyed months of hard work and sacrifice. Interviews from these meetings will be made available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are a few excerpts from those discussions:

“The greatest part of the challenge was experiencing the Slique products. My favorite Slique product was Slique Essence. I put it in my water and in my tea.

I have tried so many other weight-loss programs. Although I have seen success with them, it was like an uphill struggle. The major difference to me was the peace of mind the Slique program gave me. I can always stay on this program; I can always go back to it. I don’t have to starve myself. I’m not stressed, and I feel calm.

Physically I feel great. I can just do so much more.”

—Kelly Dolan (21 percent weight loss)

“What I love most about this program is how easy it was to incorporate into my daily life. It accentuated my already healthy-eating lifestyle. It allowed me to focus on my daily regimen, resulting in long-lasting success that seems to stick.

My favorite Slique product was the Slique Gum. I had given up on chewing gum, but having gum infused with frankincense let me experience the benefits to my teeth and overall health. Plus, Slique Gum works; it staves off any cravings you may be having.

Physically, my body is starting to look the way I imagine it could, and I’ve restored hope that there is an effective product on the market that is easy to incorporate into your daily life. It is very exciting, mentally and physically.”

—Eric Barbour (15 percent weight loss)

Join us in congratulating everyone who participated in this challenge. As an added bonus, we will randomly select one person who leaves a comment with his or her thoughts to receive a free Slique Gum 3 pack and a 15-ml Slique Essence (the winners’ favorite products).

Slique Slim Caps Giveaway!

Posted on August 1st, 2012 | 185 comments

According to a May 2012 report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 32 million more Americans will become obese by 2030. This staggering increase of 42 percent of the U.S. population is scary and eye opening. In fact, I was part of this statistic. I was 50 pounds overweight and heading in the wrong direction. Food had become my crutch. I ate when I was happy. I ate when I was sad. I was constantly eating in the car, while watching television, even while working at my desk. However, combining Young Living’s Slique™ weight-management program with diet and exercise has helped me change my life. I have lost 44 pounds in five months, just six pounds shy of my 50-pound goal!*

Slique Slim Caps™ are one of the newest products in the Slique line that can assist you in joining me with weight-management success. These innovative caps may help manage your appetite and discourage overindulgence. This patent-pending, duo-cap system was designed by D. Gary Young with unique, natural ingredients that promote satiety and may support weight management when combined with diet and exercise.

One of the main ingredients found in Slique Slim Caps is citral, a safe, natural compound of two aldehydes found in high concentrations in certain essential oils. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) and lemon myrtle (Backhousia citriodora), the two prominent essential oils in the liquid cap, contain 75 percent to 95 percent citral. Recent research has shown some very exciting discoveries regarding the use of citral with regards to metabolism, glucose levels, and feelings of satiation.**

The revolutionary Slique Slim Caps are unique to Young Living and are getting rave reviews by many of our customers. So to help spread the word about their effectiveness, we would like to give away three boxes! Meal Replacements, Balanced Nutrition, and Twinkies?

Posted on February 21st, 2012 | 120 comments

Remember the nutrition professor a few years ago who lost 27 pounds on a Twinkie diet? It seems pretty unbelievable (and we definitely don’t recommend it), but he was able to pull it off simply because he burned more calories than he took in.

I say it’s time we throw out all the fad diets and other gimmicks and get back to the basics of losing weight. Yes, it’s critical to burn more calories than we consume, but we must also make sure that our bodies get a balanced array of nutrients. At only 190 calories per serving, Young Living’s Balance Complete™ helps do both. This incredible super food combines a low-calorie meal replacement with powerful, nutritive ingredients to energize, cleanse, and support proper digestion and colon health.*

Here’s a quick look at some of the key ingredients in Balance Complete:

Proprietary V-fiber™ Blend (larch polysaccharides, brown rice bran, guar gum, konjac, xanthan gum, and chicory root fiber extract)

  • This blend provides 11 grams of dietary fiber per serving (44 percent of the daily recommended value) to help control hunger and support digestion.
    • It contains 8.75 grams of soluble fiber, which slows digestion by attracting water and turning to a gel. Soluble fiber is also known to lower cholesterol.
    • It has 2.27 grams of insoluble fiber, which appears to speed the passage of foods through the stomach and intestines and adds bulk to stool.

Certified Whey Protein

  • Whey protein provides the body with an amino acid profile for muscle strength and recovery.
  • Young Living’s whey protein is grass-fed, hormone free, pesticide free, and antibiotic free.
  • It is low in fat and is typically about 75 percent pure protein by weight.

Proprietary Enzyme Complex (lactase, lipase, bromelain, papain, and amylase)

  • Lactase aids in the digestion of lactose (milk sugar).
  • Lipase aids in the digestion, transportation, and processing of dietary lipids/fats (e.g., triglycerides, fats, oils).
  • Bromelain and papain may aid in the digestion of proteins.
  • Amylase aids in the breakdown of starch.

Suggested Use

  • Add 2 scoops of Balance Complete to 8–10 oz. of cold water or milk of your choice. Shake, stir, or blend until smooth. For added flavor, add fruit or essential oils.
  • Replace 1–2 daily meals with Balance Complete.

Balance Complete supplies a third of the recommended daily value for many vitamins and minerals (see nutrition facts here), making it a perfect complement to any weight-management regimen. It’s a complete and nutritionally dynamic meal that provides generous amounts of fiber and other nutrients that cleanse through improving elimination and digestion, balancing blood sugar, and helping control hunger.*

Oh, and did I mention it tastes great? What do you think? Leave your comment regarding Balance Complete and its great benefits. We’ll randomly select a person who leaves a comment to receive a free Balance Complete!
