Creating Custom Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

Posted on January 27th, 2014 | 9 comments

Diffusing activates the powerful plant constituents found in Young Living essential oils. Whether in your family room, office, kitchen, or bedroom, diffusing essential oils can help eliminate odors and provide an uplifting mood in your home.

Creating Custom Blends

While a few of our most popular oil blends include Thieves®, Peace & Calming®, Valor®, Purification®, R.C, and Joy, you can also create many combinations by mixing single oils or adding singles to our oil blends. The possibilities are endless!

At our global headquarters, several Young Living employees have created their own custom diffusing blends. Here’s a favorite blend of McKenna H., who works in our Will Call:

Other custom blends ideas from Young Living employees include:

Companion Animal “Heart Talk” with Young Living Essential Oils (Part 1)

Posted on April 19th, 2011 | 2 comments

What blessings our beloved companion animals bring to our lives! Yet as we rejoice in the bond between us, we also recognize a deep responsibility for their welfare. One of the simplest, most powerful methods of enjoying our relationships with our pets is to keep them healthy, happy, and calm. Not every animal will be quietly calm; some will be bounding across the rooms. However, if your pet’s nervous system is balanced, he or she will be free of inner conflict and able to enjoy your shared bond.

Heart Talk is the unspoken sharing of love with our best friends in an array of furs, feathers, scales, and more; it’s a way of achieving even greater bonds with those we have rescued, adopted, or bought. Young Living’s Peace & Calming® essential oil blend can helps us achieve this wonderful sharing of emotions and assist our dogs, cats, horses, and more to feel at peace.

Keep in mind two important factors when using essential oils with animals:

1. Humans have about 5 million olfactory epithelial cells; cats have nearly 100 million and dogs can have up to 220 million of these smell sensors!

2. Because of their incredible sense of smell, the effect of essential oils on our companions is more powerful than it is on us. We only need to run a Young Living TheraPro™ Diffuser for 5 minutes on low and off for 20 minutes to assist our pets. For topical applications, dilute the oil according to species, weight, and age. For example, a horse does not need a diluted application, but a cat would need a 75 percent dilution, or more, depending on age and weight.

For an animal’s first introduction to essential oils, simply take one drop of Peace & Calming in your hands, rub them together, and then pet your friend as you normally would (keeping away from eyes and inner ears). This is the first step to helping your companion move toward a very healthy and peaceful feeling. You will notice how peaceful you feel, too!

Consider using Young Living essential oils in your car when traveling with your pet. Keep a Travel Fan Diffuser or an unbleached coffee filter in the vent for just these purposes. Three or four drops of Peace & Calming will be all you need. This is a perfect approach for going to the veterinarian’s office!

Watch for Part 2 of this blog post later in the month where we will focus on the ABCs of Heart Talk!

Wishing worlds of success to you and your companion,

Nancy Weber

Young Living TheraPro Diffuser Effective for Use on Mold

Posted on March 16th, 2011 | 3 comments

Over the past three months I’ve been testing Young Living’s TheraPro® diffuser for use in conjunction with our protocol for eliminating toxic mold. The tests were conducted in three different environments: a hospital; a closed, mold-infested 9,000-square-foot health club; and a private residence.

I am pleased to report that our tests of the TheraPro diffuser compared favorably with the 6-watt cold-air diffusers we’ve previously been using.

Features that make the TheraPro Diffuser easier to use:

  • Eliminates the tubing and glass nebulizer of the other diffusers tested
  • Has built-in on-and-off timers
  • Holds a full 15 ml bottle of oil
  • Has to be filled less often

NOTICE: In order to get the best results using the TheraPro Diffuser for eliminating mold, you need to know the following:

Because the TheraPro utilizes a different mechanism for atomizing essential oils, there are differences in the way the oils are delivered over time. The TheraPro starts off at a higher rate of delivery, which decreases as the oil level in the bottle drops. Because of this the bottle has to be refilled every 10 to 12 hours in order to be effective. This is important because at the declining rate—after 10 to 12 hours—the amount of oil being diffused is insufficient to maintain the concentration needed to kill mold. So to use the TheraPro Diffuser for mold, you will need to have at least two 15 ml bottles of Thieves® essential oil blend on hand to ensure that you can diffuse at the necessary rate for at least 24 hours.

When used in this manner, in conjunction with the Close Protocol*, laboratory analyses showed results comparable to the results we’re used to getting using the 6-watt direct-pressure cold-air diffusers. I can, therefore, whole-heartedly recommend the TheraPro Diffuser for use in eliminating mold problems, provided it is used as described above.

A more detailed report of the tests will be made available in the near future.

Dr. Ed Close

*The Close Protocol is outlined in the book “Nature’s Mold Rx: The Non-Toxic Solution to Toxic Mold.”

Why I Like the New TheraPro Premium Essential Oil Diffuser

Young Living TheraPro Premium Essential Oil Diffuser

Young Living recently unveiled two new diffusers—TheraPro Premium Diffuser and Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser. One of these two diffusers will fit your style of diffusing Young Living essential oils. In this post, I really like the TheraPro diffuser.

TheraPro Premium Diffuser
If you’re after serious therapeutic diffusion, TheraPro is the best choice.

The engineer who partnered with Young Living created this all-in-one model, making sure the oil droplets coming out of the atomizer are the smallest ever—between one and three microns. Small micron size means quick respiratory absorption for quick therapeutic action. To test it out, simply slip in a 15 ml bottle of any eucalyptus Young Living essential oil in and experience the difference.

The atomizing diffuser in the TheraPro is a real work horse. I turned on four TheraPros at maximum capacity in late December 2009, hoping to burn out the motors after a few weeks of continuous work. Guess what? Those four diffusers are still going after more than six months, with no sign of slowing down. I’m completely impressed with its solid construction.

The TheraPro is revolutionary because there is no mess and no wasted oil. Your 15 ml bottle of oil simply screws right into the atomizer; the atomizer sucks up the oil, disperses the vapor into the air, and returns the unused oil right back to the bottle. Amazing!

On the back, the TheraPro has an interface that gives you complete control of the amount of oil diffused and for how long. If you want more oil, just turn up the air volume. Don’t want it on continuously? Simply use the duration controls.

Young Living’s TheraPro is the best diffuser to buy if you want extras. It comes with a free 15 ml bottle of Thieves essential oil blend.  There are also two atomizers included in the TheraPro box. Oh, yeah, if you want to get more atomizers, just give Young Living Customer Care a call and, they’ll hook you up with an  pack of three accessory atomizers.

For a quick demonstration, check out the demo video for this diffuser.
