Holiday Pampering Using Young Living Beauty Products

Posted on December 18th, 2013 | 9 comments

For those who are in search of that perfect gift among the holiday chaos and crowds, why not choose a quiet moment and give yourself or a loved one a quick beauty rejuvenation facial massage? In just minutes, you will feel relaxed and revitalized.

BEAUTY REJUVENATION FACIAL MASSAGE

Preparation:

  1. Place a warm towel on your face. Gently wipe off any dirt or debris. If time permits, we suggest cleaning your face with your favorite Young Living product.
  2. One at a time, gently and quickly tap each of your fingers on your face. This will bring the blood to the surface and stimulate your nervous system.
  3. Put a small amount of  A.R.T® Creme Masque on your fingertips. (The massage will be most beneficial if you keep a small amount of product on your fingers.)

Eye Area:

  1. Place the pad of your index and middle fingers on the side of your nose.
  2. Hold for 3-4 seconds.
  3. Sweep your fingers toward your ears until your fingers fall off your face.
  4. Repeat 3 times to bring energy to your under-eye area.

Forehead:

  1. With the pads of your left fingers on your left eyebrow, sweep your fingers up to your hairline with a firm, circular motion.
  2. Repeat this action on the right side.

Jawline:

  1. Beginning with the left side of your face, place the index and middle finger pads of your left hand on your chin. (Your index finger is on top of your chin; your middle finger is underneath.)
  2. With a firm yet gentle motion, move your fingers from your chin and up your jawline until you reach your ears.
  3. Repeat on the right side.
  4. Alternate 3 times, making a total of 6 lifting movements.

Neck:

  1. Place your left hand on the left side of your neck with your fingers pointing toward your left ear. Your pinky finger will be closest to your jawline, while your thumb will be closest to your décolletage.
  2. Start at the base of your neck and slide your hand up your neck.
  3. Alternate with the right side.
  4. With just your fingers, alternate your hands while gently massaging your windpipe.

This quick massage will heighten blood flow, helping your skin keep its pliancy and tone. We suggest using A.R.T® Creme Masque because it is good for all skin types. When using your favorite Young Living moisturizer—A.R.T® Day ActivatorA.R.T® Night Reconstructor, Sandalwood Moisture Cream, or Boswellia Wrinkle Cream —we suggest adding the following essential oils to meet the individual needs of your skin.*

AŸRŸT Day Activator or AŸRŸT Night Reconstructor

DIY: Sunburn Relief with Essential Oils

Posted on July 30th, 2013 | 3 comments

During the hot summer months, the best way to protect your skin from sunburn is by applying sunscreen. (See our recent do-it-yourself blog post on how to create your own natural sunscreen with essential oils.) Sometimes, however, sunburns happen. Young Living offers many products to help relieve sunburn*, including LavaDerm™ Cooling Mist.

LavaDerm’s pure and carefully chosen ingredients—aloe, lavender, spikenard, and trace minerals—work in concert to reduce the uncomfortable symptoms of a sunburn. By having LavaDerm readily available, you can just point and spray to get sunburn relief* as quickly as possible.

You can also try using one of the following Young Living essential oils and do-it-yourself recipes for sunburn relief:

Lavender

Frankincense or Sacred Frankincense

Helichrysum

Rose

Melaleuca Alternifolia

Roman Chamomile

Without question, lavender is the best essential oil for sunburn relief*. If you are really sore, it is paramount that you get the heat out of the skin. Here is a simple and effective solution:

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Fill a sink or bath with cool water.
  2. Add ice cubes to the water if you are able to tolerate the temperature.
  3. Add 1 cup of white or apple cider vinegar.
  4. Immerse yourself for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Gently pat your skin dry.
  6. Apply undiluted Lavender essential over the burned area.
  7. Once the oil is absorbed in the skin, apply Young Living’s Lavender Hand & Body Lotion .

Cautions:

  1. Don’t apply too much Lavender essential oil. Simply cover the burned area.
  2. Do not bathe with bubbles or use soap. This can dry out and irritate the skin.
  3. Avoid actions that will worsen your symptoms, such as rubbing your skin dry with a towel.

Sunburn Relief for Children

Although parents typically protect their children from sunburns, many children do suffer from heat rash.

You can prevent heat rash by keeping your child’s skin dry and cool. It is also helpful to dress children in light clothing made from breathable fabric. When possible, expose your child’s skin to air. If you are unable to prevent heat rash, here is a do-it-yourself relief recipe for all ages:

Heat Rash Relief

Ingredients:

Children Ages 0-2

  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 2 drops Lavender essential oil

Children Ages 3–7

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 2 drops Lavender essential oil

Children Ages 8–10

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 4 drops Lavender essential oil

Children Ages 11–18

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 4 drops Lavender essential oil

Directions:

  1. Mix Lavender essential oil and baking soda together.
  2. Add mixture to a warm bath.
  3. If bathing a baby, make sure that the water reaches the folds of the skin.
  4. Once out of the bath, dry skin thoroughly and take care that your child’s folds of skin are kept dry.

Here are some practical tips on how to  soothe the effects of specific types of sunburns with essential oils:

Sunburned Eyelids Apply tea bags soaked in cool water to help reduce swelling and soreness*.
Soreness Chill Young Living Lavender Hand & Body Lotion in the refrigerator. It will counteract swelling and keep skin properly hydrated*.
Dryness and Peeling of Skin Drink water and eat foods with high water content. A large watermelon wedge provides 9+ ounces of water, 1 cup of honeydew melon provides 5.4 ounces, and 1 cup of cantaloupe or beets provide 5.1 ounces.
Seek Medical Attention Take care if you experience nausea, chills, fever, faintness, extensive blistering, general weakness, patches of purple discoloration, or intense itching when sunburned.

Finally, here are a few more sensible tips for you to think about:

  • UV rays penetrate windows. Use care when sitting in direct sunlight for extended periods of time, especially with a baby.
  • If your legs and feet are swollen, elevate them above your heart.
  • If soreness is preventing a good night’s sleep, try sleeping on an air mattress.
  • Take extra sun precautions when the sun is at its strongest (from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. or 11 a.m.–4 p.m. for those states participating in Daylight Savings Time).

We hope these recipes and tips help you safely navigate through the summer months. As always, we invite you to share your ideas or recipes in the comments.

Creme of the Crop

Posted on November 12th, 2012 | no comments

The A·R·T® Creme Masque, one of three new and exciting A·R·T products launched at the 2012 International Grand Convention, was designed to complement the existing Young Living skin-care line. After all, it adds an extra dimension to your skin-care routine: a pampering, spa treatment in the comfort of your own home.

The Creme Masque’s unique blend of spa-quality ingredients helps support the look of youthfulness present in your skin. You see, as we age, the moisture in our skin diminishes significantly. Hyaluronic acid, one of the main ingredients in the Creme Masque, is an excellent moisturizer that helps support skin elasticity and hydration.

The benefits of the Creme Masque are further supported by other concentrated ingredients such as aloe vera, Avena sativa (oat), fractioned coconut oil, green tea, and squalane that provide a complex of antioxidants and vitamins to help moisturize, soothe, and support healthy skin. Skin luminescence and brilliance is also promoted through a unique combination of liquid crystals.

So what differentiates this formula from other skin-care products on the market? Simply put, our product is perfected by the beneficial properties of pure essential oils. The specially formulated Creme Masque essential oil blend features exotic vetiver and davana, plus Roman chamomile, ylang ylang, geranium, vanilla, ocotea, and jasmine.

We recommend using the Creme Masque 2–3 times per week following facial cleansing with A·R·T Gentle Foaming Cleanser. Gently apply a thin layer on the face, relax for 15–20 minutes, and rinse off any remaining masque residue. Follow up with A·R·T Purifying Toner and your preferred Young Living moisturizing cream.*

Have you tried the A·R·T Creme Masque? If so, we would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment!
