Aroma Carousel: Sharing-Go-Round

Posted on October 25th, 2013 | 2 comments

Recently at Young Living, we have been putting even more focus on making it easier to share essential oils. What started as a vision to get people asking questions and talking about essential oils developed into the Aroma Carousel™. This patent-pending product has a beautiful display for 10 2-ml sample bottles and can be used for several purposes, including as a thoughtful gift of Young Living’s essential oils and a fun and exciting way to transport and present your favorite oils and as the perfect companion to the Vitassage™ essential oil massager.

Inside each box is an Aroma Carousel; 10 empty sample bottles, caps, and oil-reducing orifices; and two Easy-Fill Pipettes (don’t worry, you can also order more of the pipettes for the future).

One great idea to help spread the benefits of Young Living essential oils to new people is to fill each 2-mil bottle with one of our most popular essential oils found in the Everyday Oils™ collection, including  Lavender, Lemon , Peppermint, Thieves®, Purification®, PanAway®, Peace & Calming® , Valor®, and Joy™. Then wrap the Aroma Carousel neatly and give it as a holiday gift.

You can also use the Aroma Carousel as a conversation starter. People are sure to ask what that cool, spinning bottle holder is for. With its lazy Susan functionality, the Aroma Carousel makes a wonderful display to showcase your essential oil favorites during dinner parties, in-home demonstrations, and more.

The Aroma Carousel is also a great accessory to the Vitassage. Since the bottles that come with the Aroma Carousel also fit the compartments of the Vitassage, these two products form a perfect partnership. Now you can have practically unlimited essential oil combinations with the Vitassage and Aroma Carousel. In addition, the Aroma Carousel comes with a package of Oil Bottle Cap Labels that conveniently fit on the face of each glass bottle and allows you to label all your favorite essential oils!

As always, we’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment sharing your thoughts about the Aroma Carousel or how you plan to this product for the holiday season.

Essential Oils & Exercise Part 2: Workout/Post-Workout

Posted on August 23rd, 2013 | no comments

This is the second article of a two-part series on how to incorporate Young Living essential oils and essential oil-infused products into an exercise routine. This post will focus on during and post-workout.

Now that you are all warmed up with the pre-workout suggestions found in the post Essential Oils & Exercise Part 1, it’s time to begin your workout! When working out it is important to remember three things: technique, hydration, and recovery.

Technique
Proper technique and form help you avoid injury and maximize results. A vital part of proper technique is how you breathe. During aerobic exercises, get your breathing into a pattern; when training with weights, exhale when exerting.

Keep Breathe Again™ close by to help open nasal passages. Know your limitations and don’t overdo it. If you are new to this type of exercise, start out with a basic workout.

Hydration
The importance of staying hydrated cannot be understated. Keeping your body properly hydrated helps flush out the toxins that are released when working out. Adding a few drops of Peppermint essential oil to your water keeps you alert during your workout.

Recovery
Once you’ve finished your workout, be sure to cool down and stretch the worked muscle groups to avoid injury. Drinking Pure Protein Complete™ after a workout delivers much-needed, essential oil-infused amino acids to muscles that have been broken down and worked. Protein also helps build enzymes that help your body adapt to sports that require endurance, such as running or biking.

When your muscles are fatigued, the use of Deep Relief™ Roll-on and PanAway® is encouraged. These essential oil blends should be a must-have in your gym bag and work to help soothe sore and tight muscles. Apply these as desired when you feel discomfort.

Lastly, don’t forget to supplement. Finish off your workout with a 2-oz. shot of NingXia Red® along with True Source™, an essential oil-infused multivitamin packed with nutrient-dense superfruits, plants, and vegetables that will deliver a full-spectrum of bioactive vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to your body. Follow that up with a Slique Bar to minimize hunger cravings between meals and you have the endings of a perfect workout.

Finally, don’t forget your Thieves® Wipes to wipe down machines and to keep yourself and others safe from germs.

We hope this series has helped you discover the myriad ways to infuse your workouts with the benefits of Young Living products. Please visit the comments section and share other Young Living products you like to use when working out!

Vitassage—A Massage Therapy Innovation

Posted on July 20th, 2012 | 11 comments

As a licensed massage therapist, it was inspiring to witness the Vitassage™ story—beginning with its ideation and culminating with its convention launch. Many people and countless hours of sweat and tears were involved in diligently making sure that the Vitassage was worthy of the Young Living name. Although many of you attended the convention and experienced the Vitassage excitement, I would love to give a brief overview of this one-of-a-kind device.

When designing the Vitassage, Gary Young wanted to offer the benefits of Young Living essential oils and massage to both professional and casual users. To accomplish this we utilized three stainless-steel roller balls to simultaneously disperse up to three different oils onto the skin, while powerful vibrations assist the oil in penetrating deep into stressed tissue. Its versatility, one of my favorite benefits, allows for personal customization of the massage experience through the swapping out, and combining of, essential oils based on current needs. The Vitassage includes the massager device, six 2-ml oil bottles, and oil transferring pipettes.

Some of my personal favorite essential oil combinations include:

Whether your focus is to support emotional balance and clarity, rejuvenate and revitalize, or relax and calm, the Vitassage will help you meet your goal. As always, we remind you to follow each oil’s safety usage recommendations and to use the provided pipettes to transfer oil into the 2-ml bottles.

The Vitassage is another example of how Young Living continues to be the innovative leader in essential oils and oil application. It is perfect for all ages, massage and physical therapists, and chiropractors to use in conjunction with their practice.  Its convenience and practical use in the office or home makes it fabulous for beginners, exercise enthusiasts, and athletes of all levels to bring instant support to the body.  The Vitassage can also be used to enhance the Raindrop Technique®.

Have fun customizing your Vitassage, and please share your favorite oil combinations with us!

The Winning Entry

Posted on August 4th, 2011 | no comments

We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the Essential 7 blog contest. The number of quality responses overwhelmed us and made it difficult to pick just one winner. It was exciting to see how many people’s lives have been improved by the power of essential oils. We would like to share our favorite entries:

Winning entry:

I have been using Young Living essential oils for more than a year now and will never go back. I’m a 22-year-old dance teacher who has seen her share of injuries. I have had a bad hip for about five years now and was told I would need an expensive operation to correct it.

I then turned to Young Living’s PanAway®. It was the best thing ever and now my hip doesn’t limit my activity level. I don’t go anywhere without it and my students are always asking to borrow it. Thanks, Young Living!

-Karlie Gilbert

Runner up:

My husband was a non-believer in the power of the oils until one day when he came home from work in an extra grumpy mood. The combination of work, money, and our two noisy children pushed him over the edge. I was not going to let his grumpiness rub off on me, so I added a couple of drops of Peace and Calming® to our diffuser and to my neck without saying a word to him. All the while, my hubby was in the kitchen grumpily muttering about options for dinner and dirty dishes piled in the sink.

After about five minutes—the time it took for the scent to make it to the kitchen—he started humming under his breath and then he came up behind me and said “I don’t think I got a kiss when I got home.” I giggled under my breath and we went on to have a peaceful and calming evening. Did I mention our children didn’t fuss the rest of the evening? I told him later that night what I had done and he admitted that Young Living Essential oils “might” actually work!

-Amanda Smith

Congratulations to Karlie for her winning entry—she will receive a free Essential 7 kit. Even though you may not have won the contest, you can still take advantage of the Essential 7 August promotion. Thanks again to our readers for your entries, and don’t forget to congratulate our winner.

Finding Strength and Comfort through Essential Oils

Posted on July 25th, 2011 | 6 comments

This week we have a very special and personal post from Tracy Griffiths, a member of our Integrated Health Professionals Council (IHPC). Each month our IHPC members submit a topic of their choosing; Tracy felt her story should be shared to give hope to others struggling with similar issues. We feel our readers will benefit from her unique story and be inspired by the courage she demonstrated during a deeply personal and painful experience:

“A few weeks ago my father passed away. He was diagnosed with lung and bone cancer about seven months ago, and he endured very aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments. After his condition worsened, he decided to reach out to Hospice and let go.

During his painful journey, I spent as much time as possible with him. I applied essential oils on his feet and legs, gave him Reiki treatments, helped him get in more comfortable positions, and spent quiet time with him. When we spoke, we expressed our love and gratitude for each other. We also slipped in a few jokes here and there. My father’s sense of humor was outstanding throughout his ordeal with cancer.

The essential oils I used most with him were frankincense, Valor®, Peace & Calming®, lavender, PanAway®, peppermint and Deep Relief™ Roll-On. I chose these oils for their relieving and calming properties. I would apply them to his feet, anywhere he was uncomfortable, and on his pillowcase so he could easily inhale them while he rested in bed. I can honestly say that every time I put the oils on him, he either told me or showed me that he got a little and sometimes a lot of relief from what he was feeling. He would also become less fidgety and feel calmer and more relaxed.

A few hours before my dad passed, the Hospice home caregiver and I gave him a sponge bath with warm water infused with Peace & Calming. Afterwards I anointed his whole body with frankincense. I believe these essential oils helped me remain calm and strong throughout this difficult process.

Fortunately, my whole family was with him when he died, and just moments before he took that last breath, he opened his eyes and looked at each one of us indicating that he knew we were there and that he loved us.

If you find yourself in difficult situations, may I suggest surrounding yourself with supportive friends and family, taking time to grieve, meditating and practicing restorative yoga, and, of course, using essential oils to help bring peace and calming as you go through this rite of passage.”

-Tracy Griffiths, RPP, RPE

We’re grateful to Tracy for her eloquent words and inspiring story. If Young Living’s essential oils have in someway touched your life or eased your burden, we hope you’ll feel comfortable sharing your experiences with the YL family.

  1. Lavender: Lavender is a great essential oil for mom, dad, or anyone else who has tension from a long drive or rigorous activities. Apply to the back of the head or forehead and feel the stress release. If you get overheated, add a few drops to V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex and apply it to your skin.
  2. Peppermint: Put a drop of peppermint essential oil in water to cool down on a hot day, relieve tension, and refresh the body, mind, and spirit.
  3. Lemon: Add a few drops of lemon essential oil to a rag and wipe off outdoor tables to get rid of germs that may be hiding in the wood.
  4. Peace & Calming®: Apply Peace & Calming essential oil blend to everyone’s feet at the end of a long ride. This blend calms the system and helps everyone sleep through the night.
  5. PanAway®: Rub PanAway essential oil blend over the shoulders and back to release tight, sore muscles after sitting for a long day’s travel or after rugged, outdoor activities.
  6. Purification®: Pull back the sheets at the motel or campsite and sprinkle Purification essential oil blend over the mattresses to create a clean area to sleep. This blend will kill germs and repel insects that may have made their home in the mattress.

Young Living Shares Essential Oils at Prestigious Conferences

Posted on November 30th, 2010 | no comments

Last month I had the privilege of introducing Young Living Essential Oils to thousands of people in Southern California at both the Women’s Conference and the TEDMED Conference.

My journey started at the 24th annual Women’s Conference, where over 14,000 attendees gathered to be inspired by the likes of Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, the Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor, former Associate Justice the Honorable Ruth Ginsburg, Erin Brockovich, and Pulitzer Prize-winning and National Book Award-winning poet Mary Oliver, among many others. The central theme was “Empowering women to be architects for change,” and the energy of inspiration and possibility was truly palpable.

Also speaking at the Women’s Conference was fashion designer and philanthropist Donna Karan. Donna’s commitment to philanthropy and global healing led her to found the Urban Zen Foundation, an organization that brings together like-minded people and organizations to define solutions and implement action in the areas of well-being, empowering children, and preserving culture. Young Living has partnered extensively with Urban Zen for the past two years, working to bring the healing power of essential oils to even more people.

Young Living Essential Oils @ Women's ConferenceI was privileged to be part of Urban Zen’s booth at the Women’s Conference, which was a beautiful space where visitors relaxed while they waited for a complimentary 10–15 minute aromatherapy and Reiki healing session. Our space was a haven from the rest of the busy conference; I watched people visibly become more relaxed and calm as they inhaled the uplifting properties of the essential oils. We diffused Thieves® essential oil blend in an Aria™ diffuser, and the aroma carried into a majority of the enormous marketplace. Other essential oils used in the healing sessions included peppermint, frankincense, lavender, Peace & Calming®, and Valor®; in all we provided more than 120 wellness sessions throughout the entire conference!

After the Women’s Conference ended we drove to San Diego for the TEDMED conference at the Hotel Del Coronado, an annual event where the best in health care and medicine come together to share the latest ideas. Again with Donna Karan and the Urban Zen team, we created a sanctuary for healing and wellness where we offered complimentary wellness sessions using Young Living essential oils. We used a wide variety of essential oils on our visitors, including Thieves, PanAway®, Deep Relief™ Essential Oil Roll-On, Valor, Joy™, frankincense, Gentle Baby™, Grounding™, jasmine, and peppermint.

Both events were great ways to showcase how companies like Urban Zen and Young Living are bridging the gap between Western and Eastern wellness modalities. I’m proud to belong to organizations that strive to honor their stewardship to bring healing to the world.

Blessings,

Tracy Griffiths, RPP, RPE, CMT
