Essential Oils & Exercise Part 1: Pre-Workout

Posted on August 16th, 2013 | 5 comments

This is the first article of a two-part series on how to incorporate Young Living essential oils and essential oil-infused products into an exercise routine. This post will focus on the pre-workout.

At least 30 minutes before each workout, it is important to increase the amount of water you consume. Supplement this with your choice of NingXia Red® for added nutrition, NingXia Nitro™ and Slique™ Tea to increase alertness, and a clear capsule with 4-6 drops of Lemongrass essential oil to get ready for your workout. These products work together to help improve energy and endurance and increase thermogenics in the body.

Immediately following this preparation, it is important to warm up the body to prepare your muscles for the workout. If your muscles are sore, gently rub a few drops of Peppermint essential oil onto the affected area to help soothe the minor discomfort. As with any workout regimen, a healthy diet and proper technique will help you achieve your fitness goals.

Recommended Pre-Workout Products:

NingXia Red: NingXia Red’s cascading energy and nutrient-rich formula is a perfect way to prepare for any workout.

NingXia Nitro: NingXia Nitro is an all-natural way to enhance physical performance. Not only does it deliver a unique combination of B vitamins, essential oils, and green tea extract, but it also contains Bioenergy Riobose®, a premium ingredient clinically proven to increase energy, accelerate recovery, and reduce fatigue and muscle pain.

Slique Tea: By providing a rare blend of jade oolong leaves, ocotea, and frankincense powder, Slique Tea is a delicious beverage that provides a natural energy boost.

Slique Essence Essential Oil Blend: Young Living’s Slique Essence essential oil blend contains a unique combination of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, spearmint, and ocotea essential oils that uplifts and energizes.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: Lemongrass essential oil contains high levels of citral, a compound that may support thermogenic activity in the body when consumed.

Peppermint Essential Oil: When ingested, Peppermint essential oil supports digestion and may improve concentration and mental acuity.  When used topically, it soothes sore muscles.

In the next article of our two-part series on essential oils and exercise, we will focus on Young Living products that can assist you during your workout and post workout.

According to a May 2012 report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 32 million more Americans will become obese by 2030. This staggering increase of 42 percent of the U.S. population is scary and eye opening. In fact, I was part of this statistic. I was 50 pounds overweight and heading in the wrong direction. Food had become my crutch. I ate when I was happy. I ate when I was sad. I was constantly eating in the car, while watching television, even while working at my desk. However, combining Young Living’s Slique™ weight-management program with diet and exercise has helped me change my life. I have lost 44 pounds in five months, just six pounds shy of my 50-pound goal!*

Slique Slim Caps™ are one of the newest products in the Slique line that can assist you in joining me with weight-management success. These innovative caps may help manage your appetite and discourage overindulgence. This patent-pending, duo-cap system was designed by D. Gary Young with unique, natural ingredients that promote satiety and may support weight management when combined with diet and exercise.

One of the main ingredients found in Slique Slim Caps is citral, a safe, natural compound of two aldehydes found in high concentrations in certain essential oils. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) and lemon myrtle (Backhousia citriodora), the two prominent essential oils in the liquid cap, contain 75 percent to 95 percent citral. Recent research has shown some very exciting discoveries regarding the use of citral with regards to metabolism, glucose levels, and feelings of satiation.**

The revolutionary Slique Slim Caps are unique to Young Living and are getting rave reviews by many of our customers. So to help spread the word about their effectiveness, we would like to give away three boxes! Spring Cleaning Belly Twists with Di-Gize

Posted on April 5th, 2011 | 7 comments

Spring is finally here and it’s a good time to ensure your whole being is in resonance with the season! I want to share some tips that will help you clear and clean out the old, heavy energy of the winter and lighten up on all levels—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

According to the principles of yoga, doing poses (or asanas) that twist and turn the body—such as the Belly Twist Version A—massages the inner muscles and organs, essentially wringing out toxins while bringing in a rush of fresh oxygen and nutrients. This flushes impurities from inner tissues and helps organs perform their functions properly. This is an effective method for improving sluggish digestion. Other benefits of this pose include the stretching of back muscles, realignment and lengthening of the spine, and hydration of the spinal disks. The contraindications of this pose are recent or chronic injury to the knees, hips, or back.

Practice combining the Belly Twist with Young Living’s Di-Gize™ essential oil blend to enhance your body’s ability to digest properly and eliminate waste. This blend of tarragon, ginger, peppermint, juniper, fennel, lemongrass, anise, and patchouli helps support a healthy digestive system.

1. Lie on your back with your knees bent. This will take pressure off your lower back and soften your abdominal muscles.

2. Apply two drops of Di-Gize diluted with a small amount of V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex to your abdomen. Gently massage your abdomen in a clockwise motion, beginning on the right side of your lower abdomen, working up the right side to the rib cage, crossing the abdomen just below the diaphragm, back down the left side of the abdomen, then back across the lower abdomen to where you began. Drop into the sensation of the massage and begin to slow down and deepen your breathing. This clockwise abdominal massage traces the motion of your large intestine’s elimination process and can assist with constipation. Repeat this 7–10 times.

Belly Twist Instructions:

1. Remain lying on your back and bring your arms out to the sides with the palms facing down in a T position. Bend both knees into the chest.

2. Exhale and drop both knees over to the left side of your body, twisting the spine and low back. Slide the knees as close to the left arm as possible. Look at the right fingertips.

3. Keep your shoulders flat to the floor, close your eyes, and relax into the posture. Let gravity pull the knees down, so you do not have to use any effort in this posture.

4. Breathe and hold for 6–10 breaths.

5. To release, inhale and roll the hips back to the floor

6. Repeat on other side.

7. Go back and twist on the side you started at and switch again.

After the Belly Twists, remember to drink several glasses of water to keep your body’s cleansing process in motion.

Spring is a great time of year for planting the seeds for your intentions. When our bodies are properly eliminating, we have more energy for creating and manifesting.

Omega Blue: Fatty Acids the Way Nature Intended

Posted on December 13th, 2010 | one comment

If you’ve taken a trip to the grocery store lately, you may have noticed that your bread, milk, even your peanut butter is touting a new phrase: “Now with added omega-3!” Omega-3 fats, most typically found in fish oils, are more popular now than ever thanks to recent findings about their support of heart, circulatory, skin, respiratory, eye, and brain health.

The American Heart Association and the FDA have both given omega-3 fatty acids their endorsement. In fact, the American Heart Association has been recommending fish oil supplementation to heart patients since as early as 2002.

Young Living Omega BlueThough the benefits of omega-3 fish oils are wide-reaching, consumers should note that not all omega-3 supplements are created equal. When choosing a fish oil supplement, you must consider the freshness of the fish oil as one of the most important factors. In fact, fish oil can be so fragile that some cultures prefer to buy live fish to avoid dangerous rancidity. This rancidity can invite millions of harmful free radicals into your system. To avoid this potentially harmful side effect, a fish oil supplement is best when it is strengthened with natural antioxidants to preserve and protect freshness. In addition, consumers should stay away from supplements with concentrated fish oils that have been overly processed.

Enter Young Living’s best-selling Omega Blue™ with pure fish oil and Omega Enhance™. Omega Blue provides clinically proven omega-3 fatty acids that are harvested from fish raised in environments free of pollutants, dioxins, PCBs, pesticides, and heavy metals. Young Living’s Omega Enhance preservation system—a blend of pure blue chamomile, lemongrass, clove, and myrrh essential oils—increases the shelf life by up to ten times, ensuring freshness not only throughout preparation but also during metabolism in the body. Precision Delivery softgels then release in the intestines for three times the absorption with no fishy aftertaste.

So the next time you see a cereal box or concentrated supplement bottle asserting its omega-3 health properties, you’ll be able to sit back and relax, knowing that you’re already getting the pure, clean essential fatty acids your body needs.
