Protect Your Mouth with Thieves, Part II

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

We all know that brushing with the right toothbrush and the best toothpaste is crucial for a healthy, kissable mouth! But we often forget the other aspect of oral care: flossing and using mouthwash also play a vital role in maintaining and promoting proper oral health.

Do you know that the American Dental Association recommends flossing at least once a day after brushing your teeth? They recommend using about 18 inches of floss between the middle fingers of each hand, then, holding the floss between your thumbs and forefingers, guiding the floss between your teeth. Once the floss is at your gum line, curve it into a C shape and gently slide it between the gum and tooth. Make sure you don’t forget your back teeth; and don’t floss too hard or forcefully as this can damage gum tissue. Using Thieves® Dental Floss is an excellent choice for flossing your teeth! Safe and plant-based, Thieves Dental Floss is infused with the protective benefits of the Thieves essential oil blend.

For added oral protection and fresh breath, add Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash to your daily oral care routine. Simply swish and gargle for about 30 seconds and then let all the debris and bacteria go down the bathroom drain. When used morning and night after brushing and flossing, Thieves mouthwash will give your mouth added health and protection.

With your choice of Thieves toothpastes, Thieves Dental Floss, Thieves mouthwash, and a good toothbrush, you’re now prepared to properly care for your beautiful smile!

Love Your Lips

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Lips are not only front and center on your face, but they are also one of the sensitive parts of your body. It’s no secret that when your lips are healthy they give a boost to your appearance; but when they are dry and chapped, they command all the wrong kind of attention.

What you may not know is that your lips don’t have oil glands or a protective layer to shield them from outside cold, wind, or dryness and pollutants in atmosphere—which can affect your lips in a harmful way. This is why your lips are so susceptible to dryness and cracking!

When you lick your lips to moisturize them, this actually speeds up the natural evaporation process and leaves your lips even drier. What you need is a lip balm that will protect your lips and seal in the moisture, leaving them smooth, silky, hydrated, and kissable through all seasons.

Young Living’s lip balms—including the newly released Grapefruit Lip Balm—offer a natural way to maintain and promote healthy lips. Vitamin E, jojoba oil, and wolfberry seed oil lend a hand in keeping lips soft and moist, while the essential oils offer a nourishing and refreshing effect. Using Young Living’s unflavored and non-petroleum-based lip balms will not only prevent the temptation to lick your lips, but will also provide healthier, long-lasting moisture.

And remember: It is just as important to nourish your lips from the inside out. Eating lots of green vegetables and foods rich in vitamins B and C can do wonders for your skin, your lips included!

Using Lemon Essential Oil

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

As we continue to dedicate the month of March to rediscovering lemon essential oil, what better way to celebrate this versatile essential oil than with some great product tips from our dedicated Young Living Independent Distributors?

Check out how Tammy Loro is putting her lemon essential oil to good use:

“After spray painting the wrought-iron fence around our pool, my husband had paint covering his index finger. He came in asking where I kept the mineral spirits, but I quickly retrieved my lemon oil and handed it to him. He skeptically put it on his fingers and after barely rubbing them together the spray paint was completely gone. He immediately asked, ‘And where do you keep the lemon oil?”

Whether you use lemon’s powerful, all-natural cleaning abilities or want to add some zest to your recipes, it is easy to incorporate lemon into your daily routine! Lemon is so versatile that you’ll quickly find you can’t go a day without it! Some other great ways to use lemon essentail oil include:

  • Try adding lemon to a variety of beverages as a natural flavor enhancer.
  • Use lemon to spot clean everything from household surfaces to skin.
  • Diffuse as an air deodorizer and freshener.
  • Add lemon to foods like vinaigrettes and sorbets for additional flavor and gentle internal cleansing.

From Skeptic to Champion

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Last week I walked into our laboratory and found Marc Schreuder (Director of Product Formulation) and Mary Lou Jacobson (Director of Purchasing) talking about an experience they had earlier that day. They told me Hiroko, a Young Living independent business consultant, had traveled to Young Living’s facilities to verify a range of quality control procedures (such as sourcing and shipping). Hiroko also wanted to personally visit the chemistry and research laboratories. She had heard rumors that Young Living was cutting corners when producing certain essential oil.

Mary Lou walked her through the Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ process that we apply to every one of our oils. This includes cultivating or sourcing the best plants, preparing the harvest with exact distilling processes, and testing each batch to make sure the optimal amounts of the natural-occurring constituents are present. Mary Lou told Hiroko that no other essential oil company shows as much concern and care over its products than Young Living. No one has more experience growing and distilling essential oils. No one in the essential oil industry takes the time to travel across the globe to personally inspect partner distillery processes. And no one has the laboratory experience needed to properly test each batch of essential oil.

Rediscover Lemon Essential Oil

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

For the month of March, Young Living is all about bringing back the uplifting, fresh scent of lemon essential oil! You’ll never run out of ways to use this multipurpose essential oil, from cooking and cleaning to creating a fresh atmosphere in your home. Lemon is so versatile that you’ll quickly find you can’t go a day without it!

Here’s what Young Living Independent Distributor Eshinee Smallwood has to say about this amazing oil:

“My husband and I like to travel with the top down on our convertible. This usually leaves a greasy film on the inside of our windshield. Last night, after a day of top-down driving, we realized that the film was making it impossible to see clearly in the headlights of oncoming traffic. We pulled over at a gas station to wipe the window with a cloth, which actually made things worse. Remembering lemon essential oil’s ability to cut grease, I put a few drop on my palms and smeared the inside of the windshield with it. Rubbing with the cloth to remove the oil, we were thankful to see that the greasy film was gone, and it was safe for us to get back on the freeway.”
